Along the western coast of the peninsula Istria, there are several groups of islands among which – the most interesting, the largest and the most indented – is the Brijuni island group. Brijuni has historical traces ranging from a Neolithic settlement and Illyrian ruins to monuments dating from the Byzantine and Austro-Hungarian architecture.
